How to make a Snowglobe:

Part I:

The Globe:

1. Open the image. For the purpose of this tutorial, right click and save this image:

snowman

2. Press the P, O, and L to make visible the Tool Palette, Control Palette and Layers Palette. In the Tool Palette click the selection tool and choose circle. Go in the middle of your image and select the desire area, as you can see in the image:

select area

3. Select the icon near the scissors to copy; and the next icon to paste as a new image:

copy and paste as new image

4. Now you have the circle to make the globe with transparent background. You need more space to work better. Go to the menu, choose Image/Canvas and resize to get more space:

canvas size

5. We need to select the circle again. Touch the canvas with the magic wand, choose Selections from the menu and Invert:

Selections/Invert

6. Now, we are going to convert our circle in a globe. We will use Layers, so if you've never worked with layers before, feel free to take this Layers Explanation, in the Jacinda's Site. Then, click back to continue here. Choose Layers/New/Ok. We will start to apply shadows inside the circle to make it 3D. So, choose Image/Effects/Cutout:

7. These are the steps: Maintain the "Fill interior with color" unchecked. Shadow color: black, Opacity: 30, Blur: 20, Vertical and Horizontal: -10. Make a new Layer. In this Layer 3 we need another shadow. Image/Effects/Cutout with the same settings, only this change this time: Opacity: 30, Blur: 60, Vertical and Horizontal: 14. Make a new Layer. In this Layer 4 we will add some white shadow. Image/Effects/Cutout with these changes: Shadow color: white, Opacity: 100, Blur: 20, Vertical and Horizontal: 4.

8. Choose Selections/None. Make the Layer 5 for the Reflection. This is very easy and fun!! Choose a Selection/shape circle, locate in your image and make a little circle. Fill this with white using the bucket tool near de A in the Tool Palette:

9. Choose Selections/None to deselect. Now, Image/Blur/Gaussian Blur/Radius 6.00. The effect now must be of a 3D globe. Finally, choose Layers/Merge/visible. The past was a variation of the Glass Globe tutorial by Ceejay.
